Works not in progress

Two developments in a couple of my future projects, one representing a possible solution and the other a dispiriting snag.
I had a midnight brainstorm on the subject of my recently abandoned-as-unfixable HCL/Buffy crossover. Yes, they go to Sunnydale in November 1995 but since I don't remember a single band who performs there ever getting lunched, it's clear the manager of the Bronze has some serious pull. So he keeps them off the sacrificial menu by negotiating the contract down to: Every November they have to return to play at the Bronze. This arrangement is surprisingly close to the deal Joe wanted with Billy, who now has no way to escape a yearly reunion with his good buddy. That's a life preserver for Joe and it would solve my insurmountable timeline problem by breaking the narrative up a bit. While still completely ridiculous, it is at least a viable option if I decide to give this story another whirl someday.
Meanwhile, back when my previous laptop gave up the ghost, I purchased a more recent model which runs a lot better and has a more comfortable keyboard. In my less than tech-savvy way, it never occurred to me that some laptops do not actually come with CD trays. *Headdesk*
So my plan to upload files from disc and attempt to learn how to create vids needs adjustment. It feels too early to give up the concept, as I've had so many "you idiot" moments in writing too, but then it's not like everyone has to be able to make every type of fanwork either.

Edited to add: I was really tired when I wrote that, and it was vague and unhelpful, so to clarify - Tuesday is my equivalent to Sunday, it's the day I have almost entirely to myself, so it's easiest to fit in a time to chat that works for you.
I'm on the computer most evenings around 9:00-10:00 EST at night, so if that works better for you on Mountain Time, that would include the actual weekend as an option. Or Thursday afternoon between 2:00-4:00. Hope something in all of that helps.
