Streaming is renting, after all
Apr. 22nd, 2024 11:02 amAfter four times of Hulu hitting SGA with the expiring tag, only for nothing to ever happen, this time it is finally gone. Rather insultingly, it's still in My Stuff, it just has no episodes attached - I guess so I can remember what it was like to click on it and get the little buffering sign.
Time to start hunting on Ebay. Apologies to
havocthecat, there's going to be a delay in my Stargate sojourn. :(
Of course, if I hadn't had Hulu, I wouldn't have given the show a try at all. But if I don't finish SGA now? I don't get to explore the fic and leave comments, or chat about it on DW, or accept a standing invite to a Discord server - and I spend a sad amount of time second guessing myself in social interactions. It's not something I feel adept at and I don't need a huge corporation shooting me in the foot when I am perfectly capable of doing it myself.
Found a commentary on Hulu's yo-yo treatment over at Gateworld, so I'm not the only one annoyed. Their recommendation was DVDs, which was my original plan when I got Hulu: Sample my way down my list of interesting options, earmark promising stuff for purchase, cut and wrap. I watch way too slowly to fit with the streaming model and if I could binge, this wouldn't have happened but it's really hard to fit into my days right now. This is clearly a sign.

Date: 2024-04-23 04:12 am (UTC)That sounds very creepy street-corner watch salesman with a trench coat full of illicit watches, but the offer stands. :P

I have a great archive of Teryl Rothery in some very oddball costuming and hot damn. There's nothing she doesn't look good in.

Date: 2024-04-23 03:47 pm (UTC)I think of libraries as repositories of books and completely spaced the idea that they might have a DVD section. Once I've finished with Hulu, I might look into that as a 'support local' option for trying stuff. :)
