There's surely some law of the universe which might explain why the portions of my WIP I was most proud of back in 2020 are now the portions which have the most incomprehensible logical failings gumming the works and requiring careful disentangling from a bunch of essential components before I can proceed.

I have this BtVS wip I wrote and set aside 20 years ago and I was so proud of it then, but now I'm trying to figure out wtf I was thinking, so. Yeah, I hear you. Oh my GOD.

Every Buffyverse idea I've ever come up with is replete with high levels of WTFness. I have yet to decide if that's part of the charm. Probably won't know until I attempt to finish one.

Seriously though - works in progress have this horrible tendency to be much better (and closer to done) when the folder is closed. Best of luck with yours!

I think that I love the what the fuckery of the BTVS universe. I mean, you've read my Highlander fic, I'm way off the charts with weird shit. But this weird shit was canon-unsupported in that I did not do my work to support what I'd done and I have to undo some of it and rework it into something more supported by canon and the worldbuilding I'd done. Yay, growth as a writer?

I hope you get your stuff figured out too, though!
