Three Songs
Jan. 28th, 2025 02:39 pmI'd been vaguely planning to start an occasional series of song recs since December, as I always enjoy discovering new (to me) material or being reminded of artists I haven't thought of in a while and figure some other people in my circle might feel the same way.
Rasputina - Wish You Were Here
The original is an unassailable classic to many, but to me, it's a song that cried out for a cello arrangement and this version is my mainstay.
Henry Thomas - Bull Doze Blues (aka Going Up the Country)
Recorded in 1928. Possibly my favorite pre-war blues recording.
Steve Goodman - City of New Orleans
I've been listening to this a lot the past two weeks. It's very comforting right now, and it's an amazing performance.
